Housing

Objectives:

To deliver high quality, low carbon, sustainable and affordable homes, that support the needs of residents of all ages, and enable an integrated and balanced community with a mix of housing types and tenure models.

Response:

Our housing strategy is based on providing a good mix of housing sizes and types, designed to provide a highly sustainable community, helping to meet the existing and forecasted housing needs in the region. 

Summary of strategies under consideration:

• Thirty percent of all housing will be affordable; 25% of which will be intermediate and 75% of which will be socially rented.
• A significant proportion of the housing will be family homes.
• The new houses will be Code for Sustainable Homes level 4 overall and level 6 for energy and carbon aspects of the code.
• All homes will achieve the Lifetime Homes standard, CABE’s Building for Life Silver Standard, use English Partnerships’ Quality Standards and follow Secure by Design principles.
