Masterplan Vision to CLG 05/09/08

At the beginning of September we submitted a Masterplan Vision document to CLG which was the final submission on which detailed assessment will take place. This document was the culmination of a vast amount of work to put further detail and refinement into the spatial option submitted in July. Our expert partners and consultants have produced further technical detail which has driven these changes, but this refinement has been greatly assisted by the consultation process undertaken since initial shortlisting, and this has been shared on the consultation feedback page.

We would welcome your views on the masterplan and in particular focusing on these key themes

  • The layout and design of the eco-town
  • How we plan to create genuine mixed communities through a variety of tenure types and linkages to the town centre
  • Our plans to minimise car use in the town
  • Our plans to help existing traffic problems through park and ride sites and better bus routes to Leicester.
  • Our plans for communities and the governance model proposed
  • How we plan to deliver healthy lifestyles in terms of growing food around the town and educating through the schools with benefits for the wider area.
  • How education and jobs in and linked to the town will help Leicestershire become more sustainable and encourage more sustainable industries to grow
  • Our plans for increasing biodiversity and managing the environment.
