Energy Reports
We will create an energy efficient town, where carbon emissions are minimised and renewable energy methods are commonplace
The Co-operative Group, in conjunction with their partners, have a proven track record in delivering renewable energy projects such as a windfarm in Coldham
- Our approach for energy is woven into the fabric of the design of the town.
- Passive solar design, massing of buildings, planting and location of vegetation, orientation and location of buildings will all contribute towards reducing the town’s use of energy.
- Our energy strategy is designed to over supply the electricity and heat needs of the town, providing a surplus that can be exported for use in the wider area.
- Delivering energy systems from the earliest phases a surplus of energy and heat can be provided which would create a carbon off-set for the construction period.
- A large scale centralised biomass combined heat and power energy centre.
- A wood pellet production plant adjacent to the biomass plant to provide a source of wood pellets for the wider Leicestershire area.
- A biogas combined heat and power plant fuelled by biogas from anaerobic digestion of agricultural and food waste.
- Wind turbines on the periphery of our landholding generating carbon neutral electricity.
- Small scale micro-generation to provide additional generation opportunities and act as a test bed for innovative technologies.
